Interested in ways that cars can become safer on the road? Because Toyota is staying ahead of other car makers by implementing new safety technology that will allow our vehicles to talk to other compatible vehicles on the road. Our team at Toyota of N Charlotte are going to go over what this technology is and how it will improve your safety on the road.
Toyota technology increases your safety on the road
Toyota has recently announced that they’re developing V2V (vehicle to vehicle) and V2I (vehicle to infrastructure technology) for the U.S. market that should be available starting in 2021. They also said that they plan to have almost their entire lineup of vehicles equipped and compatible with the new Toyota technology by the mid-decade. Check out what this V2X (both V2V and V2I) Toyota technology can do for car transportation around Charlotte.
Toyota has always had a passion for keeping people safe on the roads. Most Toyota models come equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense system that gives new Toyota vehicles a ton of safety features. This Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) is just the natural progression of Toyota safety technology and a step closer to the vehicles of the future. The V2X technology is designed to help navigators on the road and prevent any fatalities from occurring from collisions. Toyota also hopes that V2X technologies will help alleviate congestions and create a better traffic flow on N Charlotte roads.
What’s cool about this V2X Toyota technology is that it doesn’t run on a cellular network. That means that you won’t have to pay a network subscription fee to use this N Charlotte Toyota technology every month. This DSRC technology will allow vehicles to talk to each other by using seven channels of the 5.9 GHz spectrum that’re allocated for Intelligent Transportation Systems to use. And since DSRC is based on an industry standard, our vehicles equipped with this new Toyota technology will be able to communicate with other vehicle makes that’re equipped with the same technology. This communication will help make the roads even safer! Toyota believes that the additional cameras and radar sensors from DSRC technology will greatly benefit drivers on the road.
The future of N Charlotte car safety technology
Are you uncertain about letting a machine help you in the driver’s seat? Have no fear, this technology has been through a lot of testing and will undergo a bunch more before you see it in our new Toyota models. It will process information like a vehicles location, speed, and acceleration several times per second and will use this information to slow or stop your vehicle if it detects any hazards on the road ahead. Apart from road hazards, this Toyota technology should be able to detect vehicles that’re stopped on the road, road signals, road signs, or other conditions that may be hard for a driver to see on their own.
